A couple more days in Key West

Key West Day 4 – Sunday 7/20
-Went parasailing!
-Spent more time in the pool.
-Ate Cuban sandwiches for lunch. (Erin had really wanted a drink served in a coconut at some point, but we never found one! We actually drank some coconut water right out of a coconut at this meal…not quite the same).
-Walked to the Truman Annex and visited Truman’s Little White House.
-Ate at Alonzo’s oyster bar by the pier for dinner.
-Went to the Blonde Giraffe for some Key Lime pie on a stick (cold and dipped in chocolate – this was Erin’s favorite Key Lime pie, no, not just because it was covered in chocolate! It was very creamy and delicious). We also drank some mochas. :)
-Went on ghost tour of Key West, which started and ended at the La Concha hotel. Locals would make fun of the tour as it walked around by shouting “woo” or “boo” or screaming. We were instructed to respond with “You’re cursed!”…it seemed funny at the time, but looking back it was kind of lame.
-We looked through the pictures from the Ghost tour when we got back to our hotel. One of the pictures freaked Erin out. It turned out it was just because the camera was set on a long exposure time and one of the people on the tour was moving, so they looked sort of ghostly. Erin didn’t get much sleep that night – what a wimp.

Key West Day 5 – Monday 7/21
-We took a ferry to the Dry Tortugas (islands), which had the remains of Fort Jefferson. The boat ride was two hours. We were served lunch once we got to the island. We were given a guided tour of the fort, then we were given time to explore on our own. Tom decided to take the self guided tour while Erin spent some time on the beach, getting burnt. We both made an attempt at snorkeling and gave up pretty quickly. Instead we walked around the fort on the moat wall and got a great view of the coral reef and the beautiful fish. On the boat ride back there were five foot waves, so Erin, of course, got seasick despite the Dramamine she took an hour before the ride (as instructed).
-When we were back on sturdy land, we bought some candy and cookies at the Key (West) Lime Shoppe.
-Back at the hotel we ordered food from Damn Good Food. We got some Damn Good Burgers and ordered a movie and relaxed.
